Will ensure smooth probe into Hathras gang rape, says SC
- The Supreme Court on Tuesday said it would ensure that the investigation into the alleged gang rape and torture and murder of a 19year old Dalit girl by upper caste men in Hathras would be conducted smoothly.
- The court ordered the Uttar Pradesh government to file an affidavit and place it on record that the witnesses in the case are protected.

- Roger Penrose of Britain, Reinhard Genzel of Germany and Andrea Ghez of the U.S. won the Nobel Physics Prize on Tuesday for their research into what the Nobel committee called “one of the most exotic phenomena in the universe, the black hole”.
