- The latest data released by Sri Lankan tourism revealed that 3,55,002 Indian tourists visited Sri Lanka last year against total arrival of around 1.91 million.
- Over 48 thousand Indians visited Sri Lanka during last month of December alone including over thousand by sea route.

ISRO’S Astronaut Training Hub to be established in Challakere, Karnataka
- Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) proposed 2,700 crores of infrastructure plans to construct its first Human Space Flight Infrastructure Centre (HSFIC) on January 06, 2020.
- This astronaut hub will be established Challakere, Chitradurga district of Karnataka.
- It is expected that this center will start functioning in the next three years.

Bureau of energy efficiency (BEE) Notifies new energy performance standards for air conditioners.
- The new standards states that 24 degree C default setting has been made mandatory from Jan 1, 2020 for all room air conditioners covered under the ambit of BEE star-labelling program vide this notification.
- Additionally, the Indian Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (ISEER) as per the new standards will range from (3.30 – 5.00) for split and (2.70 – 3.50) for window air conditioners, which will be applicable from 1st January 2021 onwards.
