- Olympic Day 2026: Theme, History, Significance and Celebrations –
- On 23rd June, 2026 every year millions of the people around the world come together to celebrate the Olympic Day. It is a global event which promotes the sport, physical activity, friendship and the core values of the Olympic Movement. It is more than just a tribute to the elite athlete and Olympic Day encourages the people of all ages and abilities to embrace the healthier lifestyles and experience the joy of the movement.
What Is Olympic Day?
- Olympic Day is the annual celebration observed on June 23rd to commemorate the founding of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in the year 1894.
- This day marks the beginning of the modern Olympic Movement, which was revived by the French educator Baron Pierre de Coubertin.

Defence Production in India
- Defence production includes the manufacture of weapons, platforms, systems, ammunition, and related equipment for the armed forces. India’s defence industrial base includes Defence Public Sector Undertakings, ordnance factories, and private sector manufacturers.
Public and Private Sector Share
- Defence Public Sector Undertakings and other public sector units contributed about 76% of total defence production in FY 2025-26. The private sector’s share rose to nearly ₹42,000 crore in FY 2025-26, which was 24% of total production.

- India set to host two day BRICS National Security Advisers (NSA) Meeting on 22nd and 23rd June, 2026 and it marks the significant step to strengthen the cooperation among BRICS nations on the global and regional security issues. This meeting will be chaired by the National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and it will bring the together National Security Advisers and senior security representatives from the BRICS member countries.
What is the BRICS NSA Meeting?
- The BRICS National Security Advisers Meeting is the important platform where member countries discuss the security concerns, strategic cooperation and policy coordination.
- It enables the participating nations to exchange their views on to evolving global security trends and identify areas for collaborative action.

- IAF to Acquire Nine Retired Jaguar Fighter Jets from UK to Sustain Aging Fleet –
- The Indian Air Force (IAF) has decided to acquire the nine retired SEPECAT Jaguar fighter aircraft from the United Kingdom and this strategic move aimed at to sustaining the its aging Jaguar fleet. Rather than being inducted into the active service, these aircraft will be used as the source of spare parts and reusable components to keep the existing Jaguar squadrons operational.
Why Is the IAF Acquiring Retired Jaguars?
- The Jaguar fighter aircraft is no longer in the production and India is currently the only country in the world which continues to operate the aircraft in the frontline service.
